Welcome to Peterloon 2010!

"Achievements of the Past -- Foundations for the Future"

Save The Date!

October 15-17, 2010

Peterloon 2010 will take place once again at Dan Beard Scout Reservation.  This will continue Peterloon's record as the longest running camporee in the history of Scouting.  This event began 83 years ago in 1927, just 17 years after the birth of Scouting in America.

This will be a special year because in addition to the regular activities, competitions, and entertainment that mark the richness of the Peterloon experience, we will use this event to celebrate the official conclusion of Dan Beard Council's Scouting Centennial Anniversary Year Celebrations.

We are already working on special plans and activities for this celebration and will publish them here as they are completed and confirmed, so stay tuned to this web site for further information as it is developed.

(Please note that most of the links in the main menu to the left have been grayed out since the information they will take you to eventually is still being developed and is not ready for display yet.  Links to current information have been left active for your use.  You can check the "What's New" link at the bottom of the menu to see a list identifying changes and updates as they are made.)

Peterloon 2008 Results

Over 5,000 Scouts and Scouters attended Peterloon 2008, and a great time was had by all.  Old friendships were rekindled, new friendships were forged, Scouting skills were learned and improved, new ideas to improve your units' Scouting programs were obtained, and great fun was had by all!

We had over 5,000 Scouts and Scouters attend from 219 different Scout units representing 5 different states.  The participation from Out of Council units is particularly welcome.  This provided a great opportunity for all to meet fellow Scouts with different knowledge and experiences and to learn from a much broader area of Scouting.  Ten different Councils participated besides the units in Dan Beard Council.  These other Councils came from Ohio (3), Kentucky (1), Indiana (4), Missouri (1), and this year our furthest traveling attendees came all the way from Florida (1).  Some of these Out of Council units ended up winning a lion's share of the competitions, too, and we think this is terrific.

We were happy to see you all and hope you will bring more from your home areas next time to provide an even richer sharing experience, and we're looking for ways to include Scouts from more states and even from other countries in this year's Peterloon, helping to celebrate Scouting's 100th Anniversary in America..

Congratulations go also to all the others who won the other events, and our special thanks and congratulations to all those who participated so fully and made the competitions so tough, so exciting, and yet so much fun.

If you have additional photos of winning teams or displays that
